Description: 
Forged iron trammel, sawtooth type, with adjustable slider attached at top with hinge and at bottom to curled crosspiece or handle with knobs at each end; trammel tapers to decorative elements of scrolling curves extending from top and forming a heart cut-out, repeating heart cut-out just below teeth; iron turned up at bottom to form broad hook.

This object was once part of the folk art collection of Elie Nadelman (1882-1946), the avant-garde sculptor. The Historical Society purchased Nadelman's entire collection in 1937.

Tinned sheet iron tea caddy, round with impressed scenes of Japanese women dressed in kimonos, one pair carrying objects through a pastoral landscape and another pair preparing a meal in a courtyard, separated by banners with abstract characters based on Japanese writing; lid tightly screwed on, with impressed decoration of abstract motifs repeated around edge; inscription on bottom.
