Gallery Label: 
In 1829, Staffordshire potters Ralph and James Clews inaugurated a series of tablewares entitled "Picturesque Views," featuring images from the recently published "Hudson River Portfolio." Produced slightly later than the deep blue pottery, these lightly-colored wares feature an elegant border of birds, flowers, and scrolls. This view is related to plate 14 of the Portfolio.
