Description:
Faceted porcelain vase with hexagonal base, flared hexagonal rim and indented segments; decoration consists of molded leaves arranged vertically around lower body, peach-colored panels with scrolling border in overglaze blue enamel, and floral sprays on two of the facets; gilding on rim, molded leaves, and base.

Molded creamware pitcher, bulbous with strap handle; black transfer printed decoration on both sides and beneath spout with red/orange, green, blue, and yellow overglaze depicting 1) two young men wearing hats and holding pipes, standing on either side of a shield with a cross, lion, and ark ;2) a fully rigged ship with three masts flying an American flag 3) (under spout) spread eagle with stars and inscriptions.

Molded pearlware with flaring walls with indented band at mid point ("Gaudy Dutch" Dove pattern); hand painted with blue underglaze of feathers, tendrils and interior border grid of cup with overglaze central green imbricated form with red petals around on field of yellow and green leaves, red flowers, and reddish ground on one edge.

This object was once part of the folk art collection of Elie Nadelman (1882-1946), the avant-garde sculptor. From 1924 to 1934, Nadelman's collection was displayed in his Museum of Folk Arts, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. The Historical Society purchased Nadelman's entire collection in 1937.
