Black muslin underdress with a high waist trimmed with black silk, deep v-neck trimmed with black silk wrapping over the breasts and tucking into the waist; long, "leg-of-mutton" sleeves, sleeve with a large puff at the shoulder narrowing and fitted below the elbow, seams and cuffs trimmed with black silk; ankle-length skirt with small pleats around the waist and two large ruffles decorated with black silk trim in a foliate scroll design; hem trimmed with black silk; opening up the back from rear to neck.
