Demi-parure (jewelry suite) of gold and light coral colored chalcedony; brooch includes a ring of 7 circular gemstones alternating with 7 seed pearls, hinged pin and hook on reverse; ring is a plain gold band with a row of 5 circular gemstones across the center, inscription inside band; shirt studs have round gemstones on top, circular studs on reverse.

According to the accession notes, the tintypes inside the locket are of William de Groot (1825-1898), and his first wife Isabella Graham Britton of Elizabeth, New Jersey. William was a member of the firm De Groot and Peck, and president of the Hudson River Bank. At one time he was a shipowner engaged in the China trade.
