According to Antique and Twentieth Century Jewellery, this type of ring was popular in the 1830's in the U.K. and the U.S. However, the maker's mark appears to be that of Thomas Morley, who, according to Jackson's Hallmarks, was active during the last quarter of the 18th century. The date of the first obituary listed inside the ring (1801) coincides with this period.
