Wrought silver tea service consisting of a teapot, sugar bowl with lid and creamer; inverted pear-shaped bodies on high molded circular bases, applied to the bodies with circular pedestals; circular domed lids with acorn finials; plain, scrolled handles, cast in two halves and seamed; engraved, "M A K" in script on the front of the bodies; maker's marks on the bases.

Gallery Label:
This tea service belonged to Morris Ketchum (1796-1880), the great-grandfather of the donor. He married three times. He married his first wife, Catherine Burr on July 22, 1819. His second wife, Angeline Burr, daughter of Silas and Charity Banks Burr, died prior to May 10, 1837, when he married for the third time.

Wrought (possibly spun) waste bowl; circular wide-bellied form with a narrow base; flat bottomed; cast c-scrolls, s-scrolls, and fleur-de-lis applied to the rim; four applied feet cast as trefoils with cast c-scrolls forming the rest of the rim around the base; chased, repousséd and engraved decoration covers the body and lid with floral garlands beneath waved and scrolled swags; initials, "T M & M S B" engraved in the front reserve in script; maker's mark on the base.
