Cast and molded silver gilt berry scoop has columnar handle trimmed with beaded bands and end in form of helmet topped by small animal; molded handle socket; shovel-shaped bowl has tapered fluting at opening and scrolled pierced work along the back of bowl; bowl obverse also has engraved foliate drop; joint of handle and bowl has applied, cast winged angel head; bowl reverse engraved with gothic-style cipher "MAB"; handle end also engraved with gothic-style "B".

She recieved these spoons from her aunt Elizabeth Lane Partridge (1755-1809), who was probably their original owner, on the occassion of her marriage to Edward C. Mitchell, January 26, 1854. Emily gave them to Marie Antoinette Baker on the occasion of her marriage to Fellows Davis on October 17, 1871.
