This structure was erected prior to 1819 on the north side of West 25th Street west of Seventh Avenue and partly in the line of the street. It was the residence of Henry Eckford, the noted shipbuilder, from about 1825 to 1827 and was later the home of the Inman family. John Inman, editor of the Commerical Advertiser and brother of artist Henry Inman, lived here from about 1844 to 1847. The house was demolished before 1850.
