These horseshoes were excavated in 1920 by the Field Exploration Committee from a refuse dump at Connecticut Village, an American military camp in Putnam County, New York. The camp was one of several built to guard the Hudson Highlands from British attack, and was occupied by Connecticut troops during the winter of 1780-1781. The horses that wore these shoes could have been owned by officers, or been used to transport artillery and supplies.

These bullets were excavated by the Field Exploration Committee at Fort Ticonderoga, at Lake Champlain in New York. Built by the French in 1755, the fort was destroyed in 1759 in anticipation of capture by General Amherst. The fort was captured on May 10, 1775 by the Green Mountain Boys under Ethan Allen and Colonel Benedict Arnold, and recaptured in June, 1777 by General Burgoyne. The smaller bullet is probably a pistol ball.
