Handwritten in ink on reverse of frame:
"These buttons, fragments of cloth & c. are a portion of such materials found in the month of Nov. 1922 with the remains of soldiers at Young's Corners on the Pines Bridge Road near White Plains and are relics of the fight Feb 3rd 1780 between American and British troops. The buttons found were of the U.S. Continentals - about fifteen specimens. There were two specimens of 4th British Regiment and the two specimens here shown and marked with English Crown and letters R.R.N. The last are probably of "Rifle Regt of NY," or of "Royal Rangers" Loyalists. With the remains were several leaden slugs one of which is here shown. Within the wad of cloth - lower r[ight] hand corner - is a pair of bronze sleeve link buttons. W.L.C. R.P.B. O.T.B."
