Description: 
Four colorless glass flasks: short cylindrical necks with shoulder fragments, two flasks have ribbing, one has a diamond pattern, and another has raised bosses on shoulders; four green glass flasks: short cylindrical necks with shoulder and body fragments; two have ribbing on shoulder and one has fluting and other green flask is slightly melted; four colorless body fragments: one has ribbing, another diamond pattern; two colorless bottle bases; three oval green bottle bases with ribbing or fluting; five colorless stem fragments: four have white spiral twists inside.

Bolton and others from a trench at Fort Washington Avenue and 181st Street, near military barracks that extended along Bennett Avenue between 181st and 182nd Streets. Built after the surrender of Fort Washington by American forces on November 16, 1776, the barracks were occupied by the British and Hessian garrisons of the fort until evacuation in 1783.

According to an attached tag, this bar shot was excavated by the Field Exploration Committee at Fort Washington. Built by the Continental Army in the summer of 1776, the fort extended west along 183rd Street from Fort Washington to Pinehurst Avenue. The fort was captured on November 16, 1776 by British and Hessian forces, and was occupied by them until 1783. Bar shot was a form of artillery that was shot from a cannon.
