Rectangular waist belt plate of a Hessian Officer "F.F." (Feurst Frederick) Prince Frederick Regiment, found in 1921 in the British Hut Camp on Seaman Avenue, NYC. Text label in object file.

James Edwards of the 28th Regiment of the British Army in the American Revolution. this belt plate was found at teh opening of Arden Street, Inwood, New York City, on the site of hte Hessian Body Regiment Camp of 1779. Edwards was commissioned an Ensign in the 28th Regiment in 1772. Commissioned Captain in the 28th August 23rd, 1775. He was wounded st the battle of Brandywine, September 11th, 1777. He sold out to Ensign John Thomas, June 15th, 1778. A James Edwards was commissioned Captain in Bannister Tarlton's "British Legion", October 24th, 1778. He was probably the same Edwards who owned the belt plate. This Beltplate is the property of William L. Calver.
