This plate was found by Reginald P. Bolton and others at the Colonial house of Jonas Bronck, at Lincoln Avenue and 132nd Street in the Bronx, New York City. Built in 1639, the house was the first European settlement in what became the Bronx, and in 1642 was the site of a peace conference between warring Dutch settlers and Weckquasgeek Indians.

This plate was found by Reginald P. Bolton and others at the Morris-Jumel Mansion, at 160th Street and Edgecomb Avenue in Harlem Heights, Manhattan. The mansion was built in 1765 for English Colonel Roger Morris, and was used as a headquarters by George Washington and by British authorities during the Revolutionary War. The mansion became a tavern after the war.

Built after the surrender of Fort Washington by American forces on November 16, 1776, the camp was occupied by British and Hessian troops until evacuation in 1783. The plate was owned by a soldier, a member of a soldier's family, or by a camp follower.
