Description:
Layered paper board, with white paper back. Outside layered with sheet of red marbled paper, covered with black, stippled, adhesive paper. White label with red ruled line. Label: "IMPROVED/SOLID SKETCH BLOCK/MANUFACTURERS AND IMPORTERS OF/ART MATERIALS/BOOKS ON ART/F.W.DEVOE & CO./NEW YORK./[IN TRIANGLE] D and 1852; [below triangle] Trade Mark./This Sketch Block consists of a number of sheets of paper, compressed so as to form an apparent solid substance, each sheet of which can be separated by the introduction of a pen-knife at the space left on the edge of the block, and passing it around, care being taken to insert the knife beneath one leaf at a time."
