Gallery Label:
Rubens Peale established his museum in 1825 in the Parthenon, at 252 Broadway opposite City Hall. The Long Room contained snakes, lizards, and an Egyptian mummy. Another gallery cotained paintings. Lectures and special appearances were made. In 1831, the museum was renovated and enlarged. Tickets for a whole family for one year was $10, and single admission was $.25. These tokens were used from 1825 to 1841.
