Description:
Brown leather fireman's belt painted yellow on obverse; applied strip of leather across center with applied leather lettering painted red, reading "1ST VIC[E] PRESIDENT"; narrow leather straps underneath both ends and metal buckle at one end, all secured to the belt with metal studs; buckle end has a belt sleeve with red painted recess at the center and applied yellow leather letters "JS"; beside the buckle is a removable leather loop with a metal clasp hanging from the bottom, secured with a metal stud; the clasp consists of a rounded hook with a tongue beneath the lip of the hook.

Gallery Label:
This object was once part of the folk art collection of Elie Nadelman (1882-1946), the avant-garde sculptor. From 1924 to 1934, Nadelman's collection was displayed in his Museum of Folk Arts, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. The Historical Society purchased Nadelman's entire collection in 1937.
