A tin ruler and sign, orange on one side and red on the reverse, lithographed in black on one side with a hand holding a nib pen and a company seal of a roaring tiger flanking the words "Spencerian Steel Pens/ are used in all the principle Business Colleges, pronounced by Business and Professional men/ The Best Pens Manufactured.../ Ivison, Blakemen, Taylor & Co./ 138 and 140 Grand St. New York". On the reverse are lithographs of a stack of different shape bottles under the words "David's Inks", the bottles are marked "David's Chemical Writing Fluid", "David's Scarlet Ink", "David's Carmine Ink", or "Thaddeus David & Co./ Mucilage".
