A bright silver thin sheet printed with a blue border and a black airplane and the words "Sample of .032" Aluminum Alloy Wing Skin on the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress (Thickest Wing Skin on B-17, It Also is Thinnest Skin on B-29 Wing)". The B-17 Flying Fortress was available to the armed forces by 1937 and were extensively employed over Europe and the Pacific throughout World War II. The bottom is covered with felt.
