On one side, five of the panels have drawings of women using fans each with a caption describing her actions, for example "I Love You/ Draw Fan across the Cheek". The first panel reads "Instructions for the genteel female in the proper Coquetry of the Fan", and the last "Ladies employing these Rules in the exercise of the Fan do so at their own Discretion & Risk".
