Colorless blown glass druggist's jar with cover; cup-shaped body; baluster stem with flat stepped foot; pontil mark. Decorated with red enamel wreath around yellow-brown enamel inscription "Cardamons". Conical cover with ball finial, plain rim folded to create vertical flange which fits inside jar.

In 1846 Dr. David Jayne and his sons, David W. and Eben C., formed "David Jayne & Sons, Proprietors of Jaynes Family medicine." Philadelphia city directories list "David Jayne & Sons, druggists" at 84 Chestnut Street from 1851 until 1858.
