According to accession records, this model train car is part of a train float built by Thomas Kilpatrick for Mr. Havemeyer, Sr., in 1912. This cost of the original car float, built in 1905, was $18,000. Two of them, No. 2 and No. 9, carried 17 cars. Length: 260 feet, with a 40 foot beam, and 10 feet deep in interior. Three tracks, carrying 6 cars on each side and 5 in the middle could carry 10,000 tons of coal when fully loaded. This information was provided in 1949 by Thomas Kilpatrick.
