Reverse depicts winged allegorical female figure of France blowing trumpet with star above and bust in Phrygian cap and laurel wreath emerging from tree at right; ornate tablet beneath with inscription: "MUSEE AMERICAIN D'HISTOIRE/NATURELLE DE NEW YORK"; inscription at left of image: "REPUBLIQUE/FRANCAISE."
