Brass struck medal with obverse showing full-length figure of Admiral Vernon facing right, standing on solid platform, sword in his right hand, baton in left; cannon at right, sailing ship at left, small ornament in exergue; legend within line border: "THE . BRITISH . GLORY . REVIV . D . BY . ADMIRAL . VERNON." Reverse depicts a group of vessels at center flanked by towers; legend within line border: "HE TOOK PORTO BELLO WITH SIX SHIPS ONLY"; date in exergue: "NOV. 22 1739."
