Description:
Struck silver medal, obverse showing draped bust of Andrew Jackson facing right. Legend around field reads: "ANDREW JACKSON PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES/ A. D. 1829." Reverse depicts clasped hands below crossed peace pipe and tomahawk, with legend: "PEACE/AND/FRIENDSHIP." Silver ring attached through a hole at top.

This Indian peace medal was struck by the U. S. Mint after the inauguration of President Andrew Jackson in 1829 and was intended to be used for presentation to Native American tribal chiefs.
