Gilt bronze struck medal with obverse showing nude bust of Johnson facing right with legend: "ANDREW JOHNSON, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES"; date below bust truncation, at lower center: "1865." Reverse depicts figures of Native American and Columbia shaking hands in front of the Washington monument inscribed "PEACE" on pedestal.
