Bust of male subject in right-facing profile; solid black image on white ground; gilded frame with incurving sides, applied shell and scroll decoration at corners, and oval window with cream colored mat.

The subject was the son of Cornelius C. and Elizabeth (Van Horne) Van Horne. His father was a well-known New York merchant.
