Brass officer's badge from the Court of General Session, County of New York; lettering surrounds central medallion with arms of New York; badge surmounted by eagle with outstretched wings; number "63" at bottom.
Gallery Label:
The Court of General Sessions of New York City, held by the mayor, aldermen, and a recorder, tried felonies, misdemeanors, and ordinance violations. In 1895 the Court of General sessions became the Supreme Court. Mr. Eli Frank was a member of the New York Bar. He was also a Doctor of Juridical Science Brooklyn Law School.
