Description:
Brass medal suspended from bar with pin back; lower bar inscribed "CALIFORNIA" circular medal suspended from bar by two links depicts American and California flags and inscription "THE PEOPLE OF CALIFORNIA TO USN/FOR SERVICE IN THE/SPANISH AMERICAN WAR/1898-99."; reverse with an allegorical image depicting the goddess of war presenting a laurel wreath to a soldier; red, white and yellow silk ribbon connects bar and medal.
