Description:
Glass, leather, wood, brass, and silk binoculars with case; two black leather-covered brass cylinders with circular glass eyepiece fitted at rear and sight fitted at front, held together by three connecting frames fastened to cylindrical rod in middle; fitted, tapered wooden case and lid with black leather cover and pink velvet lining stitched to interior; three eyepiece fragments.

According to an attached label, these binoculars were used by the donor's father, Admiral Stephen Decatur Trenchard, during and after the Civil War.
