Description:
Silver sevigné brooch set with green-foiled paste; mother of pearl pendant suspended from center; pearl set at top; backed with gold; sewn to piece of black velvet by 2 loops at top.

This piece would have been sewn to a garment or suspended from a velvet ribbon around the neck; it was backed with gold to protect the wearer's skin and/or clothing.
