Winsor & Newton's 1863 trade catalogue, p. 88 and 89, advertises a brush like this as an "extra fine, double pointed hog hair brush" designed "after the patterns of some of the most Eminent Artists of the day."
Description:
Stained/lacquered yellow wood handle, tapers to a point. Seamed, cylindrical metal ferrule. White bristles (damaged at end).
