Description:
Brass scissor-like snuffer with two finger rings on crescent-shaped stems, rectangular wick-ends box with faceted upper and wide lip, pointed end, and three feet.

According to accession records, this candle snuffer was purchased at an auction in Berryville, VA, at the home of Betty and Virginia Washington, daughters of a Dr. Washington. The sisters were descended from George Washington.
