Description:
Cast and seamed Sheffield plate candlestick; straight oval shaft supporting an applied, stepped, flared oval socket; shaft applied to an oval, molded foot with inscribed rings around the sides; filled with shellac or tar; no maker's marks.
Gallery Label:
According to the donor, this candlestick was used by Michael Leib, a German, who came to the United States during the Revolutionary War to help George Washington.
