Bronze struck medal with obverse showing uniformed bust of Johnston Blakely facing right with surrounding legend: "JOHNSTON BLAKELEY REIP. FAED. AM. NAV. WASP DUX." Reverse shows naval battle scene with legend: "EHEU! BIS VICTOR PATRIA TUA TE LUGET PLAUDITQ." and inscription below exergual line: "INTER WASP NAV. AMERI./ET REINDEER NAV. ANG./DIE XXVIII JUNIUS/MDCCCXIV."
