This view depicts the engagement between the Unied States sloop-of-war Wasp, 18 guns, Master Commandant Jacob Jones, and the British sloop-of-war Frolic, 22 guns, Captain Thomas Whinyates, in the Atlantic ocean between Bermuda and Halifax on October 18, 1812. Two hours after the capture of the British ship-of-the-line Poictiers, 74 guns, hove in sight and compelled the two smaller ships to surrender.
