Description:
Navy blue leather rectangular card case with rounded corners, gold scroll design bordering one side, the same design tooled on opposite side; when opened, the left side is lined with pink moiré and has a card compartment, the other side is lined with maroon velvet and has five leather loops securing personal accessories, including a needle, a pair of scissors, an ivory needlework awl, and a slender pencil, this section folds out to expose a notepad beneath.
Gallery Label:
A note found in the case says that this card case was a gift to Catherine Emeline Abeel from her father, as a going away gift when he left New York for Europe December 11, 1852. He returned May 1, 1853.
