Object Number:
1965.849
Date:
1845-1865
Medium:
Glass
Dimensions:
Overall: 8 1/4 x 5 1/2 in. ( 21 x 14 cm )
Description:
Blue-green pressed lead glass celery glass; seven-sided, tulip-shaped body with scalloped rim joined to scalloped, curved foot.
Gallery Label:
The join between the body and foot (without a wafer in between) suggests that the two pieces were joined together at a later date than their original manufacture. For example, the foot (inconsistent with other examples of celery glasses) may have been a replacement for a broken original.
