Description:
Rectangular cedar chest with dovetail joinery; applied base molding; casters, brass hinges and lock; black-painted metal handles on ends; molded brass shield with two deer grazing beneath a tree in relief (DePeyster insignia) affixed to inside of lid.

According to the donor, this chest belonged to Frederic De Peyster and later his grandson, Johnston Livingston De Peyster.
