Description:
Three olive-drab felt patches with varying numbers of chevrons at top; two of the patches have two and three brown chevrons respectively; the other has three olive chevrons, and a curved stripe at bottom; all have a gold thread vertical propeller in center, flanked by wing on both sides.
Gallery Label:
These chevrons were worn by members of the U.S. Army Air Service, which was the precursor of the Air Force. Two chevrons indicate a corporal, and three denote a sergeant. The curved stripe on the other patch probably indicates a staff sergeant.
