Description: 
Wooden compass plane composed of a rectangular stock with a lengthwise convex sole perforated by a central slit through which a blade (now missing) is inserted at a downward angle and tightened with a wooden wedge.

According to the donor, this plane belonged to her great grandfather, John Gromann. He made inlaid furniture for family and friends and served in the NY State militia during the Civil War.
