Red wool single-breasted militia Private's dress coat, with 1" blue closed stand-up collar with red tabs that fold out from the throat towards the shoulders, secured with buttons at the ends on the tabs; 9 buttons down the bodice; closed sleeves (no cuffs) with blue around the bottom in a chevron shape, with 3 buttons; 4 panels at the back of the bodice, with 2 buttons near the center at the waistline, blue stripes along the edges of split skirt with a button on each side; bodice lined with white linen, skirt lined with red linen, bodice lightly padded and quilted; all buttons cast with eagle above quadrant shield, surrounded by stars and "EXCELSIOR" at the bottom.
