Description:
Dark blue corporal's single-breasted frock coat; 1 1/4" open stand-up collar; green shoulder loops with a button at the collar end; 9 buttons down the front (3 missing); narrow open sleeves with false cuffs, 2 buttons at each wrist, corporal's double chevron stripes on the sleeves; back made in 4 panels, 2 buttons near the center at the waistline, split skirt with linen-lined pocket on each side; coat unlined.

These trousers were worn by corporal August Westhoff when he enlisted as a private in Company D. Corporal Westhoff served at the Battle of Antietam, September 17, 1862.
