This coffee pot, part of a complete service, is an example of Tiffany & Co.'s Persian, or "Saracenic" designs, first developed by chief designer Edward C. Moore in the 1870s. The firm's Eastern-inspired silver earned it international recognition and prestigious prizes, including Grand Prix awards at the Paris Expositions of 1878 and 1889. Although this coffee set was actually produced more than twenty years after Moore's death, it closely adheres to early Saracenic designs Moore created decades earlier.
