Description:
Pear-shaped porcelain coffeepot with domed lid topped with open flower finial and applied leaves with molded scroll handle; the pot and lid are transfer-printed in blue on both sides with "the fence" pattern; the rims of the lid and the pot are painted with double blue lines; a floral spray is printed in blue on spout; mark in the form of a hatched crescent.
Gallery Label:
This object was made for about 10 years. After the 1770's, the balance of the form was less appealing with a higher domed lid and somewhat taller body. Flower finials appeared after 1770.
