Description:
Pair of white linen starched doubled collars, each with 2 fabric tape straps at each end, a buttonhole near the center of the inside edge, 2 buttonholes at one side, one horizontal and one vertical.
Gallery Label:
These false collars are a reproduction of those worn by Albert Gallatin (1761-1849), stateman and once acting president of the New-York Historical Society. It was worn by his descendent, Albert E. Gallatin in the re-enactment of the signing of the Treaty of Ghent, in which the elder Gallatin particpated.
