Funeral badge comprised of white and black silk satin rosette with floral decoration of silver metallic sequins and bullion covered with black gauze at center; two black silk satin ribbons suspended below with inscriptions printed in silver: "FUNERAL/Obsequies,/OF OFFICERS OF/FIRST REGIMENT/NEW YORK STATE/VOLUNTEERS/Under the Direction of the/MUNICIPAL/AUTHORITIES/of the/CITY OF NEW YORK/July 12, 1848.//BAXTER,/BARCLAY,/PEARSON,/GALLAGHER,/CHANDLER,/FORBES."
