Description:
Pewter struck medal with obverse showing male and female figures, both holding banners, flanking shield surmounted by cross; two children seated beneath with shamrock at center; legend above: "IN HOC SI [?] NO VINCES." Reverse with recessed cross inscribed: 'PLEDGE/I PROMISE/TO/ABSTAIN/FROM ALL/INTOXICATING DRINKS &/EXCEPT USED MEDICINALLY/AND BY ORDER OF A MEDICAL MAN/AND TO DISCOUNTENANCE/THE CAUSE &/PRACTISE/OF/INTEMPERANCE"; legend: "CORK TOTAL ABSTINENCE SOCIETY/THE VERY REVdT. MATHEW PRESIDENT/FOUNDED 10 APRIL/1838." Hole punched at top center.
