Description:
Purple silk and lavander wool knit tights; padded silk waist and hips with a nine button fly; nine metal buttons inscribed, "FOR GENTLEMEN ***;" white cotton criss-crossing laces up the back of the buttocks; lavender knit legs trimmed with silk at the ankles closure with to metal buttons.

These tights were worn as part of a costume worn by Enrico Caruso when he performed the role of Des Grieux in "Manon Lescaut."
