Description:
Covered sauce tureen and stand decorated with blue enamel and giding; interlaced reeded handles painted in peach enamel with gilding; border decoration consists of a wide blue enamel band with gold stars, and a band of gold spearheads; additonal decoration includes blue enamel floral swags and shields with blue enamel and gold star bands, ribbons, and leafy swags; initials inscribed on shield.

This dish, part of a fifty-four-piece dinner service, was owned by New York statesman and merchant James Watson, Jr. (1750-1806) and his wife Mary Talcott (1752-1806).
